Grade 11

For 5 years I have been attending Gould Lake leadership camps where I have travelled across Ontario and to America for weeks developing my skills to become an outdoor educator. Trips have taught me countless personal and interpersonal skills like rigour and the importance of team dynamics. Although I was unable to work as a trip leader this year due to COVID-19 last year I completed a few trips and placements, leading a group of 9 students for a week in Frontenac Provincial Park. I was responsible for their safety, developing necessary skills for future programs while still making the trip fun. By the end, I had to be able to use both my skills as a camper and my skills as a teacher and mentor to lead a successful trip.
